This is a really sound way to get started. The Beginners book is very well illustrated with computer generated graphics & very easy to follow. It teaches basic techniques for tying and then goes on to show how to tie 12 patterns* using the materials included in the matching kit. These are classic patterns which you will find in almost every anglers flybox but more importantly, by the time you have tied these patterns, you will have put into practice most of the techniques you will ever need to tie a fly.

This is a very sound way to learn to tie.
