RAPALA

Consistently reach suspended fish at any depth with the CountDown method. The controlled depth technique was introduced to the world with this slow sinking (approx 30 cm/ sec.) lure. Whether the fish are suspending at certain depths near the weed tops or on bottom, the CountDown can get you to them. The lure is weighted for long casts and balanced perfectly for a horizontal sinking position. (Shown - Bleeding Olive Flash).

RAPALA RECOMMENDED METHOD - Immediately after casting, take up any slack line and begin counting just as the CountDown strikes the water. A good uniform way to count is 'one thousand one...one thousand two...one thousand three...' Keep counting until the lure has settled on the bottom or has found a resting place in the weeds. The line will go slack at this point. Remember the count at this moment. Then, by reducing the count by one or two numbers on subsequent retrieves and picking up the lure with your reel, the CountDown will stay just above the weeds or off the bottom. When fishing streams with the CountDown, cast quartering upstream to allow the lure to sink without tension on the line and start reeling when you have reached the desired depth.

Perfectly balanced, the Husky Jerk can be cast or trolled at any speed and still run true. The rattle chamber transmits sound waves that amplify through the water, catching and piquing attention. And the suspending action is just more than a fish can handle. Metallic, natural and glass patterns cover the gamut of fishing opportunities. Running Depth: 1.2 - 2.4 metres. (Shown - Glass Minnow).

RAPALA RECOMMENDED METHOD -The secret to Husky Jerk success is to crank, stop, crank and take advantage of the neutrally buoyant suspending action this lure is known for. The advantage of the long stops comes most apparent in cold water situations, since the retrieve can be stalled for long periods of time to waken even the slowest fish. Use a slow stop and go retrieve in cold water and a more aggressive jerk and pause or twitch and pause retrieve in warmer water, when the fish are more active. Remember that even in warm water most predators hit the lure when the retrieve is paused even for a very short time. To alter the lures swimming depth, keep the rod tip high and twitch upwards for a shallow presentation, or down to allow the lure to run deeper

With its slight exaggeration of Rapala's unique baitfish-in-distress behavior, the Jointed is ideally suited to the extremely slow retrieve required to trigger sluggish, finicky fish. Extra noise and action produced by the jointed body helps wake up the fish in poor visibility. Running depth 0.9 - 4.2 meters. (Shown - Bleeding Hot Olive).

RAPALA RECOMMENDED METHOD - This articulated lure permits more of that wiggling action fish can not seem to resist. Extremely suited to a slow retrieve without sacrificing any of that famous action. Use it when casting windswept shorelines. Keep the lure just below the surface. The pronounced action will attract attention and trigger fish that are actively feeding on windblown morsels. Also suited well for slow trolling at speeds just around one knot (1 to 1.5 mph). For added attraction and great strikes, keep your rod in hand while trolling and twitch the lure every now and then to break its rhythm
From £9.99

The first and still the number one lure. Lauri Rapala had no idea the impact his creation would have on the fishing world. Its wounded minnow action is irresistible to fish. Decades after its creation millions of anglers still rely on the Original Floater - one of the most versatile lures ever made. This is the worlds best selling lure. Running depth 0.6 - 3.3 meters. (Shown - Firetiger).

RAPALA RECOMMENDED METHOD - When fishing very low water keep the rod tip up and retrieve slowly so that the lure bulges the surface. To cause more commotion on the surface use either a twitching retrieve or stop & go retrieve, allowing the lure to float back up to the surface before twitching or reeling again. In flowing water in addition to the traditional down-and-across casts, try imitating injured baitfish by casting upstream or quartering upstream and let the current bring the floating lure down, reeling just enough to keep the line tight and twitching the lure slightly on the surface film
